The diode laser is a low energy light rapidly pulsed into the skin to gently heat the target area ( the bulb of the hair ) within the hair follicles. This causes terminal damage directly to the hairs and prevents regrowth.
There are three stages of hair growth. The hair being treated needs to be in the anagen stage ( growing stage ) for successful destruction of the follicle. In each targeted area there are approximately 30% of hairs in anagen which is why we recommend a course of treatments.
Hairs contain a pigment called melanin. The laser is attracted to the melanin within the hair which in turn destroys the hair follicles.
White or red hair is not suitable for laser hair removal as there is no melanin within the hair.
Being realistic it is advised to have a minimum of 6 sessions ( average 8 sessions ) or sometimes more due to personal circumstances. Every client is different. A therapist cannot say exactly how many sessions a client will need, it really depends on the areas being treated, the types of hair, and the desired results.
